Hallmarks of An Authentic Montessori School

What makes Silver spruce Montessori unique is how true we are to the original methods envisioned by Maria Montessori.

The Montessori Methodology is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtful, prepared learning environment.

Multi-age groupings are a hallmark of Montessori Education.  Multi-age classes foster peer learning.  Young children learn from older ones.  Older children reinforce their learning by mentoring the younger ones.  This mirrors the real world; individuals collaborate at work and socialize with people of all ages. In addition, this atmosphere instills respect for others.

The Montessori materials are specially designed learning manipulatives. These materials are multi-sensory, reaching all types of learning styles. In addition to this, they are self-correcting.  By discovering their own errors children become empowered and responsible for their own learning.

The joy of the Montessori Method of Education is it creates a foundation of confidence, independent thinking, and a passion for learning that will last a lifetime.

A Montessori classroom is a prepared environment.  The classroom is organized to encourage independence, freedom within limits and a sense of order.  It is meticulously arranged in an aesthetically pleasing way.  The children approach this type of environment with an active curiosity that enhances their learning.
